The Natural History division is the national centre for natural history collections and oversees the protection of natural history monuments. It deals with nature and works on the living and non-living components of the environment. It addresses topics such as Biodiversity, Taxonomy and Systematics, Ecology, Minerology and Palaeontology by establishing data and collections of animals, plants, minerals and fossils in order to record the existence of species and minerals in Botswana.
